FOCUS JEUNE THÉÂTRE EUROPÉEN / FOCUS YOUNG EUROPEAN THEATRE

The Espace des Arts, regional repertory theater of Chalon-sur-Saône, the Jeune Théâtre National, French organisation supporting employability of graduates from European superior theater schools, and the Instant Mix Theater Lab, a multilingual theatre collective supporting transnational and cross-border creation, have joined forces to create a festival dedicated to emerging European theater artists, whose next edition will take place from 13 to 15 October 2022 at the Espace des Arts in Chalon-sur-Saône.

We are now launching the call for the 2022 edition of the FOCUS JEUNE THÉÂTRE EUROPÉEN / FOCUS YOUNG EUROPEAN THEATRE.

TO SUBMIT A PROJECT, YOU MUST :

— Be a young artist, and graduate from a superior theatre school in Europe
— Have completed your training within the last six years (graduation year : 2015 to 2021)

YOUR THEATER PIECE WILL HAVE TO :

— Involve 2+ languages and artists from 2+ countries
— Be no longer than 95 minutes
— Involve a team of 2 to 10 people from Europe
— Be quick to set up and dismantle ; shows will be performed alternately

We are open to a diversity of aesthetics and approaches (including performances without text).

> THE TRANSNATIONAL AND/OR MULTILINGUAL DIMENSION IS ESSENTIAL, as it is an integral part of the identity of this event.

The shows must be accessible to a mainly French-speaking audience, and creative translation (or non-translation) strategies must be mentioned in the proposal. We are happy to help you with these.

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS TO BE SENT TO US NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 15, 2022 :

— An artistic dossier in French AND in English
— The CVs of the creative team (of the collective / company if applicable)
— A video if available, or visual / audio documentation that can facilitate the understanding of the proposal

IMPORTANT DATES :

— February 15, 2022 : Closure of the call for projects and receipt of complete applications (after this date, no proposals will be considered)
— April 1, 2022 : Announcement of the selected projects on the Espace des Arts website after notification by email to all teams
— October 13-15, 2022 : Festival at the Espace des Arts in Chalon-sur-Saône

L’Espace des Arts, Scène nationale de Chalon-sur-Saône, le Jeune Théâtre National et Instant Mix se sont associés pour créer un festival dédié à la jeune création européenne, dont la prochaine édition aura lieu du 13 au 15 octobre 2022 à l’Espace des Arts.

SI VOUS SOUHAITEZ PROPOSER UN PROJET, VOUS DEVEZ :

— Être un.e jeune artiste issu.e d’une école supérieure de théâtre en Europe
— Avoir terminé votre formation depuis moins de six ans (année de sortie de l’école : 2015 à 2021)

VOTRE PROJET DEVRA :

— Associer 2 langues (ou +) et des artistes venant de 2 pays (ou +)
— D'une durée de 95 minutes (maximum)
— Impliquer une équipe de 2 à 10 personnes venues d’Europe
— Pouvoir être monté et démonté rapidement : les spectacles seront joués en alternance

Nous sommes ouverts à une diversité d’esthétiques et d’approches (y compris non textuelles).

> LA DIMENSION TRANSNATIONALE ET/OU PLURILINGUE EST ESSENTIELLE et fait partie intégrante de l'identité de la manifestation.

Les spectacles devront être accessibles à un public essentiellement francophone, et les stratégies de traduction (ou de non traduction) devront être évoquées dans la proposition. Nous pouvons vous conseiller par rapport à cela.

— Un dossier artistique en français ET en anglais
— Le CV des membres de la création (du collectif / de la compagnie s’il y a lieu)
— Une captation, si disponible, ou des supports visuels ou sonores pouvant faciliter la compréhension de la proposition

CALENDRIER :

— 15 février 2022 : Clôture de l’appel à projets et de la réception des dossiers de candidature complets (passée cette date, aucune proposition ne sera étudiée)
— 1er avril 2022 : Annonce des projets retenus sur le site de l’Espace des Arts après notification par mail à l’ensemble des équipes
— 13 au 15 octobre 2022 : Festival à l’Espace des Arts à Chalon-sur-Saône
